Mehbooba shifted to her official bungalow

SRINAGAR: Former J&K chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, who has been in detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA), was shifted from the VIP House sub-jail near Transport Yard on Maulana Azad Road to her official Gupkar Road bungalow in the city called “Fairview” following a government order. This is just a shifting and PSA will continue to remain invoked against her, as of now.
Many J&K politicians, including Mehbooba and another former CM and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah, were taken into preventive custody on August 5 last year following the scrapping of special status of the state and its reorganization into two Union Territories. Later, on February 6, PSA was slapped on both Mehbooba and Omar. However, on March 24, Omar was released from Hari Niwas guest house on Gupkar Road after over eight months of detention.
Issuing an order on Tuesday, J&K principal secretary (home) Shaleen Kabra said PSA will continue to remain invoked on Mehbooba. The order also debarred her from meeting reporters or communicating with any of her party colleagues. Police personnel deployed at the gate of her residence have been instructed not to allow entry to anyone except her family members.
