David Attenboroughs latest series, Dynasties, starts on Sunday night – and its going to be a good one as teaser clips reveal a chimpanzee troop is caught in the middle of a power struggle.
The legendary documentarian reveals within the first minutes that the show is a fight for survival – starting with the alpha male of the group, David.
With Davids throne as the king of the primates constantly under threat, its not long until others try to replace him in the thralls of the forest in Senegal, West Africa.
It gets so hot and dry here its the very limit of where they can survive, were told by the soft tones of the iconic voiceover.
In one clip, shared by the BBC, another chimp is seen making a play for the alpha spot – and starts by threatening the safety and wellbeing of others within the troop.
Hurling rocks, the monkeys around him soon flee, leaving him to mark his territory. However, he has to keep this up for several days if hes going to make it.
Attenborough adds: Hes surrounded by rivals prepared to kill him for his crown.
This is a story of power, politics and the fight for survival.
Sounds awfully familiar, dont you think?
