There seems to be no stopping crazed killer Lachlan White in Emmerdale – just when it seems like he is about to be caught, he gets himself out of trouble, usually by killing someone else. And his spree is set to continue in the village for some time ahead of his potentially explosive autumn downfall.
In the wake of the messy Rebecca situation, Lachlan feels like he MIGHT be able to breathe a sigh of relief. But that is only ever fleeting for him as the past has shown – after all, he had to dispatch Gerry and fake Terry when they got in the way.
With the story set to take more twists down the line, who is next?
Look, we all know that Mike Parr is leaving his role as Ross Barton later this year so its time to face up to the fact that he is unlikely to get a happy ending, given the misery he is currently enduring. With Rebecca gone, his mental and physical scars and a drug addiction, Ross has very little to lose now.
Add in his new trouble when he sells a faulty car to Megan and Frank which leads to a crash and his dismay at Pete moving in with Rhona, then its safe to say that Ross is a timebomb waiting to explode.
So if he were the one to find out what Lachlan had put Rebecca through, hed waste no time in confronting him. But could Lachlan even manage to turn the tables on Ross and bring about a bloody end for the popular character?
It wouldnt be the first or even second time that Lachlan has made an attempt on the life of Robert. At the moment, Robert seems to have accepted that Rebecca has simply left the village but as he continues to not hear from her, might he start to do some more digging.
Naturally concerned for the welfare of the mother of his child, Robert is a worthy adversary for Lachlan and the pair certainly have history. But could a showdown be Roberts undoing, putting his happy ending with Aaron and Liv in serious doubt?
Priya has recently seen an insight into the dark nature of Lachlan and ever since she has been extremely wary of him and wants to understandably keep her distance. But its a small village – so could more edgy behaviour from Lachlan get Priyas suspicions raised once more?
We reckon there was a reason they introduced her to his story – but lets hope that it isnt to bump her off.
Liv insisted that Lachlan was behind the gassing of the Mill but no one believed her to the point where she even began to doubt herself. But Liv isnt stupid and she knows what Lachlan is capable of – so another showdown along the line seems inevitable.
All it will take is another flash of Lachlans dark side for Liv to pounce – but will she regret it?
Thomas Atkinson previously insisted that Lachlan would never hurt Belle – after all, its his warped love for her which has driven him to take so many depraved actions. However, he recently backtracked on this somewhat and hinted that his character was now so troubled that even Belle might be at risk.
If she discovered the truth, it might be the case of him realising he has nothing else to lose – and taking her down with him.
Lydia has offered solace to Lachlan already and managed to crack through his fragile shell a bit – yet, she had no idea how close she was to putting her own life on the line when she got a little too close for comfort.
As Lachlan reels from the Rebecca incident, will Lydia act as his friend again – and learn to much, with devastating consequences?
Lets face it, just about anyone could fall victim to Lachlan at this stage. He has so many secrets that anyone could stumble upon hints or the full truth about him, needing them to be disposed of. Given his apparent ease of killing Terry, Lachlan is now at a stage where he will kill first, think later.
So who else in the village might accidentally end up on his murderous radar? Gulp!
