Remember when a chocolate log put your love life to shame?

It wasn’t any old cake. Britain’s favourite birthday guest Colin The Caterpillar tied the knot with Connie (after what was arguably a far too short-term relationship).

After 25 long years of solitude, Colin met Connie on the top shelf just when he thought love was out of reach.

The two have been enjoying married life for the past year, side by side on the shelves and of course at office parties.

Fans of the edible delights with a backstory that puts Hollywood romances to shame, rejoice, for there’s good news.

You may not have noticed this, but Colin and Connie are parents to mini caterpillars… that you can eat.

Just like their parents, the caterpillar minis are made up of chocolate-coated sponge rolls, filled with chocolate buttercream and decorated with milk chocolate beans and a white chocolate face.

Interestingly, they’ve been around for quite some time, having been on sale since 2016.

You may have noticed that this means the mini Collins have been around since before Colin and Connie got married, or even announced their engagement.

M&S haven’t even confirmed the mini Collins’ parentage, so it’s possible that not only were they born out of wedlock, but Colin may have reproduced in a previous relationship.

Isn’t M&S progressive when it comes to their chocolate treats?

Because one fun-sized caterpillar roll is smaller than a banana (based on our empirical research), you can get away with buying a pack of five in store for yourself.

Or if you fancy going big, you can order a pack of 25 mini Colins for £12. Lovely.

Do enjoy eating Colin’s offspring.
