Last week, Domino’s started selling vegan cheese pizzas down under and the Australian plant-based world rejoiced.
But they obviously didn’t anticipate just how keen everyone would all be – because the pizza giants have now said that they’re running of out dairy-free cheese at loads of their stores.
Such is their thirst for plant-based mozzarella, that Domino’s is working to bring in more supplies to satisfy demands.
And yet…Domino’s still hasn’t brought out a vegan cheese option in the UK.
The mozzarella is made by US company Follow Your Heart, and Nick Knight, Domino’s Australia and New Zealand CEO says that customers should check with local stores to make sure they have the vegan option in stock still.
‘We knew the response was going to be big after the demand we saw for the product on social media,’ he says.
‘But we had no idea it was going to be this big.
‘We’re excited that customers love this product as much as we do and that we have been able to source a cheese alternative that vegan customers have given their tick of approval on.’
The Aussi arm of the company added vegan cheese to their menus in response to a huge demand in its customer survey on Facebook last year.
And they also have three dedicated vegan pizzas: the Vegan Avocado Veg, the Vegan Spicy Trio and the Vegan Margherita.
Hopefully, this great cheese crisis will finally prove to Domino’s UK that WE ALL WANT VEGAN CHEESE.
We’re all waiting.
