Forget your super-green breakfast smoothie, because a top gastro-physics chef has devised the perfect ‘morning after’ cure to Christmas festivity excess – in a box.
Food delivery expert Uber Eats has launched a breakfast which aims to help those who’ve gone a little bit overboard on the festive boozing to survive the peak of the party season.
The perfectly balanced meal contains eggs, bacon, mushrooms, beans, avocado and spinach. This is then accompanied by banana porridge drizzled with honey with a side of orange juice.
Each choice for the breakfast has been specially selected to help restore essential nutrients to help people recover from a heavy night out on the lash.
For instance, Vitamin B in the mushrooms and beans helps replenish those lost during the consumption of alcohol.
The eggs and avocado aid the recovery of the liver by flushing out toxins and reversing the effect of alcohol.
The bacon helps replenish amino acids to help with brain functionality, while the spinach neutralises stomach acid to be rid of that nauseated-feeling many of us experience after a big night out.
Not only does the banana porridge add something sweet to the menu, but it also helps to restore potassium and magnesium, with the carbs boosting serotonin, which counteracts ‘booze blues’ by introducing ‘happy hormones’.
And finally, a glass of orange juice replaces the glucose lost during drinking – speeding up the body’s processing of alcohol.
The hangover-curing breakfast was created by gastro-physics chef Jozef Youssef, who partnered with Uber Eats and restaurant chain LEON to add the ‘Fix Up Feast’ to its menu.
Kitchen Theory founder and chef Jozef Youssef said: ‘I love creating dishes that not only taste delicious but are scientifically proven to do good.
‘I’ve had a lot of fun working with Uber Eats and LEON to create the Fix up Feast menu.
‘Each ingredient will target an after effect of a heavy evening out and will get those who have pushed things a little too far, feeling like themselves again.’
A spokesman for LEON said: ‘We don’t believe in self-denial and enjoy the first to last glass of wine on a good night out.
‘We have spent 13 years helping people eat well and live well, with naturally fast food, so it’s good to focus on fixing how people feel the morning after the night before, this festive season’.
Toussaint Wattinne, at Uber Eats, added: ‘At Uber Eats we’re passionate about breaking the stereotype of food delivery, by making food for all occasions in any location available at the touch of a button.
‘As the Christmas party season gets into full swing, we wanted to give people the Christmas gift of a ‘fix up’ at work, home or wherever they happen to be. We all know that there’s nothing worse than a sore head after a night of festive fun!’
The Fix Up Feast Bundle, which costs £9.45 all in, will be available to download through the Uber Eats app from 8 – 22 December.
